Fiddlin' Josh
Fiddlin' Josh
Charcoal on Paper
24" x 18"
2014

Here's Josh is a fiddlin' away! I put the banjo in the background to suggest its subordinate role to the fiddle. The banjo often plays the melody with the fiddle, but usually plays a more stripped down melody so that it can rhythmically back up the fiddle. See my entry for "Josh Playing Bass" for additional information about the banjo's role in an Old Time ensemble.
